Design Quarter and Wallapalooza Make a Statement

When it comes to setting the mood in a space, wallcoverings make the most impact. That was the message at the La Cienega Design Quarter’s 13th annual LEGENDS event, hosted the inaugural Wallapalooza, a celebration of the art and design of wallcoverings. Fourteen interior designers selected a pattern, and a team of photographers worked with photographer Adam Amengual to capture the designs.

Adam captured the essence of the designs from various angles, from close-up perspectives to sweeping vistas, giving us an uncanny sense of presence. Eddie Maestri, a panelist at the event, shared an insight: "Sometimes, with wallcoverings, less is more… it’s about using the right composition to create a sense of serenity in space." His shot of LOTUS LIGHT STRIPE, a design featuring a unique blend of colors, seems to nod to this sentiment. [lotus light stripe image)

Tasha, a stylist, brought her distinct flair to capturing Chrissy Jones, of Leah O’Connell Design. Together, they rendered a stunning image, showcasing LOUIS XVI Stripe, showcasing a classic design, with regal undertones. "Luxury is not about excess… it’s about understated elegance," quotes Tasha.

Red-Hot Insights

Marilyn Russell’s work offers a glimpse into the passion and sophistication of the design world. We see why she’s often referred to as the "Queen of Style." An image of her masterpiece, BRUSSELS IVORY FAUX FIN, transports you to a world of rich textures.

Wallcovering designs know no bounds, much like artists who push their creative selves to new heights. Consider LOTHIE ISLAND by LOTTIE ISLAND, a blend of colors and patterns defying comprehension. "Art knows no geographical boundaries," suggests Russell, "and neither do our designs."
When it comes to crafting a specific atmosphere, wallcoverings can seamlessly transition from grand to muted, as seen in her image.
